My friend Amy released a new fabric line that came out last month and I ordered a fat quarter bundle as soon as I could.
I knew it would be perfect for another Brightly quilt, and a good way to show what the quilt looks like when made with Fat Quarters instead of a Layer Cake like my first version.
I made a super dumbo move...before I cut my fabric I planned on fussy cutting those cute little houses for the centers of the star blocks, and instead I chopped up all the houses without thinking.
Oh well...now there are pieces of the houses strewn all over the quilt instead!
The Brightly pattern can use 13 fat quarters, and since I bought a fat quarter bundle I had this pretty low volume bundle leftover. Won't that make a cute baby quilt all on it's own with some solids mixed in?
This quilt comes together really fast, and I like the pops of orange here and there in the finished top.
I went for fast and easy quilting with my go-to wavy lines (Bernina stitch 4, stitch length 3, stitch width 5), using the seams and points as my guides.
Smooshing this through my little Bernina gave me a good shoulder workout...my arms were sore the next day LOL. Obviously I need to do more quilting right?
The print fabric is Bungalow, the white fabric is Bella Solids 200 (sold out here, but it's my favorite!), and the pattern is Brightly.

So cute!! I do those dumbo moves too - and after my heart stops for a moment or two, I realize it is not the end of the world - and brings interest (and a learning curve) to my quilt :)! Love this pattern - and the cute fabric you used.

I really like this pattern! Do you mind sharing the stitch settings you use to do your wavy quilt lines?

Of course! On my Bernina it's stitch 4 (you can do this with any zig zag stitch on any machine though). I set the width to 5 (as high as it goes) and the length to 3. The best way is to try it on scrap fabric on your own machine and adjust the settings to your liking!

I also love the curvey lines. I have a Janome and nothing similar. It just adds a bit of action compared to straight...I just can't master free motion.

I do love that it gives the look (sort of) of free motion but is done with straight lines. Just nice to have another option!

I am late to this post, but love the quilt! My question is about pre-washing the fabrics, and if you have any trouble with the colors running into the white if you don’t pre-wash? I’ve never used pre-cuts, so don’t know about washing them beforehand. Thank you!
