    Heart Quilt Block Tutorial

I just realized it's less than a month until Valentine's Day, and I haven't written a post yet with my favorite thing to sew....heart blocks!  I can't let a January or February go by without some heart blocks on my blog.

I've probably made more heart projects than anything else.  I posted a quick video to Instagram a few days ago of me making a heart block with Diagonal Seam Tape to speed up sewing all the corners....not having to draw all the lines really speeds up these blocks!

Amy has this cute 12" heart-in-a-heart quilt blocks on her blog with a free printable...these would make a cute quilt all put together!

I also think this free Pixelated Heart Pattern is adorable.  Amy made it a little bigger here adding extra squares.

Since it's Martin Luther King Jr. day and this post is filled with hearts, it's fitting to end with one of his quotes I love:

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?"

    Spread some love today!

Hi Allison, thanks for another great tutorial. I saved it but this year I am committed to making your Suburbs quilt. I have the pattern and even have it scheduled in for this spring. Happy quilting and have fun with the kids.

LOL....I was just researching this yesterday on your blog. I want to make it to donate to our local hospital pediatric floor. I have made them for the younger kids to donate but tend to think the older kids are forgotten a little. Just finished a Star Wars quilt for a teen boy and the hearts will be perfect for a teen girl. I also bought your tape and haven't used it yet....now to watch your video. 😁

What a great donation quilt! I agree teen quilts are hard, especially boys!

Allison, I really like how you have made quilting patterns that anyone can use to make fun and pleasing quilts. I have been a quilter for over 50 years and still like to learn different techniques for making old favorates. Happy Valentines Day to you, your family and your family of followers.

Allison, thank you, thank you for coming up with the Diagonal Seam Tape. I love using it, and introduced to a few of my friends at a Guild class last week. I have found that I can get a great scant 1/4 seam with it, by lining up the 'point' under the needle (using leaders and enders of course), to either a smidgen to the right or the left of the needle. And if I keep a steady pace, the seams are perfect!!!

Oh I love that! I love hearing how people use it a bit differently and getting new ideas for it! Thanks for sharing it with others too!

Your hearts are so nice and so are you for sharing patterns. I'll be making hearts for my sister to hang in her husbands hospice room. Hopefully it will cheer her and the caregivers. Thank you.
