On the Heartsy (CCS #205) #3 pg 3 It states ""place the 2" squares on the top of the
4 1/2 x 8 1/2" strips with the pencil lines as shown (Fig J). There is no 4 1/2 by 8 1/2 strip of background fabric, its either 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 or 2 1/2 x 8 1/2. Since theses go on the top of the of the print fabric of 4 1/2 x 8 1/2 strip, should it not be the background of 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece.
since the just started sewing the quilt heart block that is the only question that I have.

Hi Carol, The two sides of the heart (the heart 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" strips) will be sewn together in that same step (figure M), so you'll sew the 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" background strip to the top of the heart later in step 5 (fig. O). Hopefully that's what you're referring to? Once you make one it should make more sense.
