Thank you for the kind messages and comments about Backyard Blooms, I am so excited for it to come to shops. That's one of the tricky things about making fabric...it's showing now in January for quilt shops to buy, but it doesn't actually ship to stores until July. The waiting is the worst, but also time flies and this is a very summery collection!
Brightly is one of my newest quilt patterns to go with this collection. I wanted it to look well....bright. I also wanted it to have a "scrappy" look, without having to dig through my super unorganized and full scrap bin.
Brightly can be made with a Layer Cake (one layer cake with 42 - 10" squares), or fat quarters. I used a layer cake of Backyard Blooms for this quilt.
I sound like a broken record...but really Diagonal Seam Tape + star blocks are a match made in heaven!
This was quilted by Kaitlyn, in the modern loops design (I think?). It's a new favorite for sure.
Brightly is available here as PDF, or here as Paper pattern!

Love the fabric and the new pattern. My next future project for sure.
Allison
Thanks Susan!

Beautiful - and just one layer cake - awesome! Love this pattern and the navy prints among all the other lovely ones!
Allison
Thank you! I do love a one-layer-cake pattern!
Kelly Tadlock
Beautiful fabric and quilt! Love the pattern too!
Allison
Thanks Kelly!

I especially like the "chain" part of this one. And all from a layer cake?!
Allison
Yes one layer cake! Thank you, I love chain quilts too!
Julie
Allison, love your new fabric line! Perfect for your three new patterns which I bought last night. I found a jelly roll sale yesterday and "Jelly Weave" and those jelly rolls are going to make such great quilts. And you're right--as complicated as it looks, "Jelly Weave" is amazingly easy. How do you do it? Made your "Pumpkins" pattern last fall and totally enjoyed the process (great instructions) and the finished product. Thank you so much!
Allison
Thanks Julie...this comment made my morning! Happy quilting and thank you!
Kristi
Love this and all your patterns! You are one of my go-to designers that I always feel confident in purchasing your patterns because I know they will be clearly written and end up as expected. The Diagonal Seam Tape is now one of my favorite quilting tools! Great job!
Allison
Thank you Kristi! I love hearing that!
Libby Blaha
I have seen you post this quilt several times already in the past few days and I just can't get enough of it. This pattern and fabric and just adorable. I just have to have it. I would not have thought it only took a layer cake plus the background fabric. Awesome work; just love it.... (and yes, I have tried the diagonal seam tape....also awesome ) Thanks for all the inspiration and all you do !
Allison
Thank you Libby!
Gina
I purchased your Diagonal Seam Tape last fall and love using it. I made a snowball block quilt and the tape was a big help in making it. Brightly looks like it would be a great stash buster pattern.
Allison
I'm so glad you like the tape! Yes this is a great way to use up a stash, or scraps!
Cindy Whittaker
I am a huge fan of your patterns! Love this one. And your Diagonal Seam Tape is such a time saver!!
Allison
Thank you Cindy what a compliment! I'm so glad you like the tape!
Linda Douglas
Brightly is just beautiful ! Thanks for sharing !
Allison
Thanks Linda!

Love this and definitely going to make! What did you use for the backing fabric?
Judy Dobbins
Love the new pattern and can hardly wait for the new fabric line! Just ordered the pattern.
Allison
Thank you Judy!

I LOVE the Brightly quilt. I need to make it asap :) thank you for all of the beautiful quilts and patterns you provide.
Allison
Thank you!

This fabric line is adorable as is the pattern. But what I'm most impressed with is how flat your quilt is hanging on the wall. Would you mind explaining your hanging method? And do you block your quilts?
Allison
It's hung with pins! I just use normal little sewing pins with clear glass heads at the top and bottom corners of the quilt (sometimes the sides to straighten any edges). No I don't block my quilts, I just straighten the edges after quilting a bit, but luckily a large block based quilt like this turns out nice and square. I've had my share of wonky quilts though...this latest batch I got lucky!

What a great pattern! And, you designed it without flying geese. I’m sending you 🤗. Thank you so much. I can hardly wait for this fabric line.
Allison
I loathe flying geese! ;)
Rebecca S.
Oh, my, I love all three of your new patterns! (I peeked at the website, because I couldn't wait.) I only have room in the budget for one right now and I'm having the worst time deciding which one.
Allison
Thanks Rebecca!

Ended up getting Brightly because I thought it would be perfect for two sweet sisters who share a room. (And I love stars.....)
Allison
Sounds like it will be perfect! It's a good pattern for them to grow into as they get older too! Happy quilting and thank you!
Brooke Eschuk
Beautiful! Can’t wait to make this pattern! I didn’t see what sizes were available...?
Allison
For now it's just this throw size (it looks best with the chain blocks!) but I'll soon have a free download to this pattern you can get with the multiple sizes.
Pat Hudnall
Is the download with the multiple sizes available?
Cynthia Atiyeh
Absolutely love this quilt! I ordered this pattern a couple of months ago and have been waiting for Backyard Blooms to come out. I received notice yesterday that it was in stock and just ordered the Backyard Blooms fat quarter bundle along with backing fabric and binding. I'm looking forward to the arrival of the fabric and beginning to make this quilt!
Kathy Clark
Just wondering if the pattern requires all 42 squares. I have a layer cake that would be perfect for this but it has a few light squares that are just too light. Searched the internet for more of this fabric, but have been unsuccessful.
Glenda
Do you have a tutorial in making this quilt. Thanks
Linsey
I just recently bought this pattern and I have been able to track down all the fabric but one!! 51819-1 navy blooms! Can you help me locate 1/2 yard?? I know this fabric has been discontinued, but I’m almost there and I want to make this quilt for my mother!
