    Brightly

    Jan 27, 2020

Brightly Quilt Pattern, layer cake or fat quarter friendly

Thank you for the kind messages and comments about Backyard Blooms, I am so excited for it to come to shops.  That's one of the tricky things about making fabric...it's showing now in January for quilt shops to buy, but it doesn't actually ship to stores until July.  The waiting is the worst, but also time flies and this is a very summery collection!

Brightly is one of my newest quilt patterns to go with this collection.  I wanted it to look well....bright.  I also wanted it to have a "scrappy" look, without having to dig through my super unorganized and full scrap bin.

Brightly Quilt Pattern, layer cake or fat quarter friendly

Brightly can be made with a Layer Cake (one layer cake with 42 - 10" squares), or fat quarters.  I used a layer cake of Backyard Blooms for this quilt.

I sound like a broken record...but really Diagonal Seam Tape + star blocks are a match made in heaven!

This was quilted by Kaitlyn, in the modern loops design (I think?).  It's a new favorite for sure.

Brightly is available here as  PDF, or here as  Paper pattern!

I especially like the "chain" part of this one. And all from a layer cake?!

Allison, love your new fabric line! Perfect for your three new patterns which I bought last night. I found a jelly roll sale yesterday and "Jelly Weave" and those jelly rolls are going to make such great quilts. And you're right--as complicated as it looks, "Jelly Weave" is amazingly easy. How do you do it? Made your "Pumpkins" pattern last fall and totally enjoyed the process (great instructions) and the finished product. Thank you so much!

Love this and all your patterns! You are one of my go-to designers that I always feel confident in purchasing your patterns because I know they will be clearly written and end up as expected. The Diagonal Seam Tape is now one of my favorite quilting tools! Great job!

I have seen you post this quilt several times already in the past few days and I just can't get enough of it. This pattern and fabric and just adorable. I just have to have it. I would not have thought it only took a layer cake plus the background fabric. Awesome work; just love it.... (and yes, I have tried the diagonal seam tape....also awesome ) Thanks for all the inspiration and all you do !

I purchased your Diagonal Seam Tape last fall and love using it. I made a snowball block quilt and the tape was a big help in making it. Brightly looks like it would be a great stash buster pattern.

This fabric line is adorable as is the pattern. But what I'm most impressed with is how flat your quilt is hanging on the wall. Would you mind explaining your hanging method? And do you block your quilts?

It's hung with pins! I just use normal little sewing pins with clear glass heads at the top and bottom corners of the quilt (sometimes the sides to straighten any edges). No I don't block my quilts, I just straighten the edges after quilting a bit, but luckily a large block based quilt like this turns out nice and square. I've had my share of wonky quilts though...this latest batch I got lucky!

Oh, my, I love all three of your new patterns! (I peeked at the website, because I couldn't wait.) I only have room in the budget for one right now and I'm having the worst time deciding which one.

For now it's just this throw size (it looks best with the chain blocks!) but I'll soon have a free download to this pattern you can get with the multiple sizes.

Absolutely love this quilt! I ordered this pattern a couple of months ago and have been waiting for Backyard Blooms to come out. I received notice yesterday that it was in stock and just ordered the Backyard Blooms fat quarter bundle along with backing fabric and binding. I'm looking forward to the arrival of the fabric and beginning to make this quilt!

Just wondering if the pattern requires all 42 squares. I have a layer cake that would be perfect for this but it has a few light squares that are just too light. Searched the internet for more of this fabric, but have been unsuccessful.

I just recently bought this pattern and I have been able to track down all the fabric but one!! 51819-1 navy blooms! Can you help me locate 1/2 yard?? I know this fabric has been discontinued, but I’m almost there and I want to make this quilt for my mother!
