I know, I know...I already have at least 5 pumpkin quilts and 3 patterns for pumpkin quilts, but they are my favorite thing to make! So when I had the idea for this quilt there was no turning back.
Pumpkin Patches had to be made!
I would call this the "fall twin" to my Brightly pattern. The only difference is the pumpkin blocks instead of stars, and the cutting is different since you aren't using print fabrics in the pumpkin blocks.
This one is versatile in what you can use for the print fabrics...5" squares, 10" squares, fat quarters, or scraps work great for this quilt!! Pretty much anything goes with this one.
To make this quilt, I used a Layer Cake (10" squares), of Sleepy Hollow fabric by Melissa Mortenson for Riley Blake fabrics. The oranges were a mix from my stash, all but one of them are here, here, here, and here. The brown fabric is Earth, the background is Bella Solid 200.
This fabric is cuuuute...as cute as Halloween fabric can be. I did take out some of the lighter, repeat fabrics in the layer cake, and added in some fabrics from my stash. A few violet purples, blacks, and greys.
I love the purples, and bits of green and blue.
The quilting is by Knot and Thread, and it's perfect as usual. The backing is a gingham print I picked up at my local Joann store in the Halloween section.
The only problem with this quilt is that it's finished, and I have to start another fall quilt so I'll have something to work on next month!
I also made this quilt in non-Halloween fall colors...I'll finish that up and share it soon!
Pumpkin Patches can be found here as a PDF, or here as a paper copy.

Love this! I can see numerous themes emerging...I mean, a leaf, a heart, a shamrock, a snowflake...you name it, you can insert it in place of the pumpkin! FUN!!
Allison
Yes! I'm hoping that's how people will use this pattern...add in all the fun blocks for all the fun holidays!
Karen Ritter
Perhaps a pattern with just the fun blocks as a supplement to Brightly? I’d love it!
Allison
I have some tutorials for hearts and blocks that might work with it, maybe I'll find the time (ha!) to put a tutorial together in the future!

Very festive quilt and pattern. The binding is also very attractive.
Allison
Thank you!

You can plug in hearts where the pumpkins are and you have a valentine's quilt (also shamrocks).
Allison
Yes that would be so cute!!!

Oh so precious! I love the color scheme!
Allison
Thanks Missy!

I bought the original pattern, now to figure out the sizing of the pumpkins for a wonderful Halloween quilt! This certainly is a versatile pattern!

I absolutely love this! The purple and grey touches are so nice. I really like your choice of backing (and more gingham for the binding!) I have NO pumpkin or Halloween quilts but that's gonna change pretty soon, I am looking forward to having at LEAST five pumpkin quilts like you 😄
Allison
Sounds like you need to sew some pumpkins!! ;) The backing fabric is really fun...I'd definitely buy it again!

This is such a fantastic stash buster pattern!!
Allison
Those are my favorite kind to make! Thanks!

This is so charming. I'll look forward to seeing your fall version as I was thinking that would last the whole season in our house that has no kids. I'm thinking about apples and pumpkins in the centers. Hmmm, time to look at the stash.

LOVE IT!

Good evening, I purchased the pumpkin patches kit. It is beautiful. But, can you tell me what is included in the kit? (I don’t see any brown fabric) how do I get the backing? Don’t want to seem foolish
My hands are itching to start this project just want make sure I have everything. Thank you
