I've had this Tulips pattern on my "quilting to-do list" ever since I made the table runner version a couple of years ago. My Grandpa loved tulips and planted hundreds of them in his front flower beds along their busy road in Idaho Falls, so they bring back memories!
I made this pattern to work well with pre-cut 2 ½" strips (one jelly roll makes the Throw or Twin size), or 10" squares, or fat quarters...or you could use scraps! I always have random chunks of fabric in my stash, and the easiest way for me to use them is to cut them into strips and put them in a quilt like this one!
I used a random assortment of fabrics, mostly basics I already had, but I pulled the colors from this gorgeous floral print.
These blocks go together easily, and if you have Diagonal Seam Tape, it will save you a thousand hours (minus a few) not marking diagonal lines.
Again, Kaitlyn chose and did the quilting on this one. This small Baptist fan is my all time favorite quilting design.
The backing fabric is a 108" wide backing by Riley Blake I purchased here. I love that companies are making more wide backing options!!
I usually buy 2 yards of them any time there is a sale, which is usually a perfect amount for any throw size or almost twin size quilt. They've spoiled me though....I dread anytime I have to actually piece a quilt back even though it takes maybe 5 minutes!
The binding is a Blossom basic by Riley Blake...definitely my go-to basic in my fabric stash. It's well priced and there are so many great colors!
The Tulips pattern can be found here as a PDF, or here as a Paper pattern.
Happy Mothers Day friends!

Cover my toes with Tulips instead of “ Tiptoe through the Tulips”. Love your creative quilt!

HI Allison, what a neat quilt! I love the Tulips. I clicked on the PDF link to get the pattern and it took me to the Fat Quarter shop, but not to the pattern. Any suggestions? I can buy the paper pattern but I always try to get the PDF first.

What a fun quilt! We raised our children in Idaho Falls. Now our oldest is raising her children there! It's a great place.
