At least once a year or so I try to make a quilt with some purple in it....this is my one! I actually do love this violet shade of purple...but I just never find myself reaching for it when making a quilt. It looks great in this Echo quilt though!
Echo is one of my new patterns, written to use with fat quarters. Most of the block units are strip pieced, so it goes together surprisingly quick.
The blocks in the pattern are off-set, but you could always lay them out like above if you like more white space. Usually as I'm making the blocks I plop them up on the wall so I can see them together.
My design wall is a large white piece of batting pinned to the wall....easiest to use (the blocks stick easily on their own), cheap, removeable, and still looks nice.
This quilting design (called city of fountains on her site) is perfect for the quilt. When there's a lot of squares in a quilt I love using a circular quilt design to add movement. This one is modern and fits the vibe of the quilt perfectly.
I know I say this all the time...but this would be a great pattern for a teen. It has a more modern look but you could still sneak some cute fabrics in there. I need to remake this one in ombre fabrics too!
Echo is available here as a PDF or here as a Paper pattern. Happy quilting!
