    Promenade

    May 14, 2015

This quilt is big…and big quilts are really hard to photograph so you’ll have to bear with me!  I’ve had this quilt on my radar for a year or so since I saw this photo in a magazine:

I’ve always loved this block in antique quilts but seeing them all framed like that got me hooked.  I tried to make the block sizing similar to that in the photo, and maybe I’ll make this quilt again soon just to frame the blocks.

The fabrics in this quilt are Hazel, and the quilting pattern is a Baptist fan quilted by Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting.

This one is a Large Throw/Twin size, and the pattern includes instructions for a Queen and King as well.  A King size of this is definitely my summer project list!

What a lovely pattern! It's amazing how a little bit of color around the border can completely change a star block! And it looks great in the Hazel fabrics. :)

Love this pattern! I have made it with the blocks in quite strong colours (red, blue, green) on a cream background. Can I ask what colour thread you used to quilt it with? It seems so invisible on the colour blocks in the photos. I’m not sure what colour to use but I guess I’ll use cream thread? Any advice on thread colour on high contrast quilts would be much appreciated :)
